This is a public service announcement!
With guitar!
Know your rights - all 3 of 'em
Number 1:

You have the right not to be killed - murder is a crime!
Unless it was done by a policeman or an aristocrat
Oh, know your rights
And number 2:

You have the right to food money
Providing of course you don't mind a little
Investigation, humiliation
And if you cross your fingers - rehabilitation
Know your rights, these are your rights

Wang! Young offenders!
Oh, know these rights
Number 3:

You have the right to freeeee speech
As long as your not dumb enough to actually try it

Know your rights - these are your rights
Oh, know your rights - these are your rights
All 3 of 'em - hah

And it has been suggested in some quarters
That this is not enough!
Well - get off the streets, get off the streets - run!

(Don't you have a home to go? Smush!
Finally then I will read you your rights
You have the right to remain silent
You are warned that anything you say
Can & will be taken down & used as evidence against you
Listen to this - run)

I saw the Clash live at the Cow Palace in San Francisco back in the '80's...and they opened with "Know Your Rights"...which woulda been a great opening except the singer dropped the mike as he said "This is a public service announcement!"...blew the whole opening basically:doh:

This was my favorite when it came out and probably still is. I'm a big Clash fan. For a while there in 1981 it was one of those things I listened to all day everyday...lol. My favorites off the album are:

The Magnificent Seven

The Call Up

Career Opportunities

Rebel Waltz

Lightning Strikes (Not Once But Twice)

Ivan Meets G.I. Joe

I of course like the classic: London Calling
and also Train In Vain and Mustapha Dance
A great band. There are more but that's all I feel like typing.

I hate to say it, but Rockin' the Casbah is a badass tune with a message very relevant in this political climate. It reminds me of an article I read in the New York Times about the Taliban regime banning music in Afghanistan, and how through the ages it's been done by the Catholic Church as well. Give it another spin, and try to forgive it for being so popular.
