Any good independnt Nap servers out there?
It kinda defeats the point of sharing when you have to misname your files to get them past the filter. But there's so many Nap servers to chose from. Does anyone have any favorites?

Swaptor is a good one, seems to have a number of hi-capacity servers in a cluster:
meta.swaptor.com:8890 - tg ;) ps. Welcome to the forum, nice to see you here, Mazer! :) |
The NecessaryEvil server usually has a lot of users too, without filtering. shadoegrounds.darktech.org:8888 :J: ;)

Yes indeed, Swaptor is pretty good when I can get on (not lately :( ). Overexposure is pretty good from my experience as well with a few K users, and generally at least 1K. Some other consistent, but smaller, networks include OpenWorld, Everworld, zonkylnap, and OggVorbis. I've seemed to get successful correct searches with those. If they don't work out, sorry, it's just my good experience, I suppose. :)

Thanks a bunch for the replies, you guys. :)

mazer: LONG time NO see...welcome to the boards
ps...thanks for the info guys...I have been having trouble finding servers that are not already packed up with people. i agree with mazer about having to play guess and check with the spelling of words to get through the filters..it get old :( |
Also try MiddleEarth, NapJam, and FapNap.

I haven't been able to log in to *any * opennap servers lately (using WinMX). How do you guys have success getting onto the above stated servers?

Overexposure is pretty good...

A few more good networks:
DeepNetwork UFNOpenNap .BEERWORLDNAP StockingsANDheels nappy4eva - if you use NG, do this: Use NG 2.0+ to export a server list to WinMX. If you do not have NG, go to www.napigator.com and download it. I have v2.02, but that may not be the latest. Anyway...use the Standalone shortcut on your desktop to run NG. This bypasses the Nap client altogether and only runs the server search. After the search is finished, go to Servers->Export (I think)->WinMX (.wsx). You will be given a Save As prompt. Name and store the file wherever you like. I usually save the lists in proggy files under NG. If this is the first time for you experiencing NG, the default path is drive:\Program Files\thirty4 interactive\Napigator . After you save the file, do whatever with NG - hide, close, doesn't matter, and go back to the desktop. From the desktop go to wherever you have the file, and drag it to the WinMX shortcut on your desktop (if you are running WinMX at the time, have it minimized). Your new list of servers should be successfully installed. I know this works with at least WinMX 2.1+. Update your server list every few days, and about every couple of weeks, weed out all the networks you never really connect to. By doing all this, it should give you some modicum of success. |
A few more:
ThugMentality Sublime Overexposure and OggVorbis are still working well also. |

If you can't (like me)/don't share, don't bother with the DJNap or aussienet networks. They'll ban you right away. If they knew how bad my connections were they'd praise me for having the balls to try to download anything in the first place. But I digress.

Also krokuss.net is another good one.

This site lists a few.

There's a server in the Overexposure network on port 4444 that rejects WinMX connection attempts. I don't remember the exact address but I'll post it later.
