Blair to leave office in 2007

Under pressure from his party, British Prime Minister Tony Blair confirmed yesterday that he will leave office within 12 months, marking an apparent private deal with his expected successor, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown.

Mr. Blair refused to give an exact date, however -- at once buying more time and leaving the door open to more discord, as rumblings within the Labour Party grow louder.

Blair's Pledge to Quit Puts Pressure on Brown to End Party Feud

Tony Blair's promise to step down as U.K. prime minister within a year may not be enough to calm his Labour Party's worst infighting in 30 years. Now it's up to Gordon Brown, his probable successor, to end the feuding.

Academics and pollsters say Chancellor of the Exchequer Brown, who is scheduled to speak to the Scottish Labour Party today in Edinburgh, may be the only one able to convince rebellious lawmakers seeking Blair's immediate departure that the leadership dispute is damaging Labour's chances of retaining power.

No.
Blair is just the prime minister as he's the leader of the labour party.
We don't vote for prime ministers,we vote for members of parliament.
Then the party with the largest number of members is asked by the queen to form the government.
Blair being leader becomes Prime minister to the queen.

All laws are made in parliament.
But then have to go though the house of Lords before becoming law.
The lords amend bills then send them back to the house of commons. This happens a few times till the final bill is approved.
The exception is finance bills(taxes)The lords can not stop a finance bill.
There is a lot more to it of course with oversight subcommittees and the like.

Because it's been misattributed all over the place.

LOL, the "revocation" idea would never work anyway.

Firstly, they wouldn't do it.

Secondly, history recorded what happened the last time a similar plan was attempted.

Lastly, I really do not think a change in Prime Minister will be able to significantly alter the U.K. position on terrorism. If the U.K. lets terrorists run wild it will not be in the best interests of its people.
