Morpheus Asks Judge To Drop Case
By Lisa M. Bowman
Staff Writer, CNET News.com Attorneys for peer-to-peer company StreamCast Networks are asking a judge to resolve their court case quickly in their favor. The Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a motion for summary judgment in federal court in Los Angeles on Monday, urging the judge to drop the entertainment industry's case against StreamCast Networks, saying the company's Morpheus file-sharing network shouldn't be thwarted because it has uses that don't violate copyrights. The entertainment industry has sued StreamCast, arguing its file-sharing service allows people to steal copyrighted works. Arguments on the matter are scheduled for Dec. 2. - js. |
