They're starting to impose those kind of limits everywhere. It looks like they want everyone to take the 3gb cap because the prices sure do take off after that.

550MB - $54.95

3GB - $69.95

5GB - $134.95

10GB - $265.95

I didn't know I had 5GB/Mo limit...:(
I checked this month, it's 18GB.
I don't want to see the bill... dammit

with caps on d/l's but not u/l's (so far) the negative effects on file availability should be small at first, since you can still share all you want even if capped. however, due to the added expense of downloading it means you'll be getting less and less music as time goes by, and that will ultimately put more pressure on those p2p users on systems that don't cap, thereby reducing overall hosts. fewer sources will mean longer queues and fewer choices, and it's all bad for file sharing.

meanwhile one of the largest fiber optic owners in the us, metromedia, is considering declaring bankruptcy because they have way too much capacity and the prices they're getting to transmit data are so low.

because of a huge glut.

something wrong here, no?

interesting.. thanks for posting that..

im on ADSL with telstra. the real downside to this service is the download limit. i have to put myself on 'mp3 restrictions' so i dont pass the limit.. they dont even take away from next months load, they just charge extra. some of you guys download movies, and if i downloaded one that would be like half a months worth of MB for me.. arg. whats the point of having a fast connection if you cant download more? (yea i know the point, but still.) :)
