See what happens when you take the quick road? You rent a client rather than program your own and you get anything coming to you. The least they could have done was get a programmer of their own to check the code for holes before they fostered it off on their users.

Any of you who have been around long enough will remember (if you ever knew) that we could have done the same with Napster on any of the OpenNap servers. The backdoor they programmed into the client from version 4 onwards made it possible for them to auto-upgrade the users. Anyone with enough programming savy (and no morals) could have used that backdoor to have the client download and run anything they liked. And still can to any of you still using the Napster client.

Isn't time such an excellent teacher..

Yet another reason why I don't use morpheous and kazaa. :RE:

Of course, crap like this could explain how 3 spyware registry keys were found by my ad aware today......even though it had been 2 weeks since my last scan....even though I kept my reference file updated.

The Brilliant Digital plan is the most ambitious yet from a string of companies that have tried to make money off the millions of people who are downloading and using free file-swapping programs such as Kazaa, MusicCity's Morpheus or LimeWire.

As long as this is the motive for putting out p2p apps, then we can come to expect rogue spyware from use of this software.

P2P spells trouble when they go corporate.
