Operation Hollywood

Quote:

They make prostitutes of us all because they want us to sell out to their point of view," said filmmaker Oliver Stone, who was refused military assistance for his Vietnam War-era films Platoon, Born on the Forth of July and Heaven and Earth.

"They want a certain kind of movie made," Stone said. "They don't want to deal with the down-side of war. They assist movies that don't tell the truth about combat, and they don't assist movies that seek to tell the truth about combat. Most films (about the military) are recruiting posters. They are such lies."

LOL – oh God…..ok….. That is F-ing hilarious……

Finish the quote multi…LoL….

The state cringes when movies that actually make people think hit the big screen, and there is a growing movement within Hollywood to push the genre firmly in that direction, but they salivate when an audience can be hoodwinked into buying their crap through the medium of entertainment.

Fewer and fewer people read newspapers. Less people are watching TV news. The majority of the propaganda has shifted to television programs and movies. Watching back to back Simpsons episodes this weekend, the viewer is left with the impression that lesbian marriage is wholesome and normal and in the next instance, only a global government can save us from global warming.

We must increase our vigilance of where the propaganda is emanating from and, as in John Carpenter's They Live, shut it off right at the source.
Hollywood movies make people think??? If people get history lessons or news from Hollywood, well those people are just darn right stupid and suicide is the best option for them. The term Based on a true Story means 10 to 20 percent of the film comes from actual events or facts. Hollywood’s goal is the make lots and lots of MONEY….period.

Simpsons…LOL…. That is all I have to say about that…..Simpsons?!…..but don’t have a cow man, I think fewer and fewer people watch Tv news and read papers is, One, the internet and Two it is mostly biased and bullshit news. CNN last night had a show about how the news is one sided and stories are not reported properly.

Anyway, you conspiracy nuts are good fun, That was funny, made my day…..

LOL… Simpsons…….

I don't think even people in hollywood want to deal with that tantrum throwing wacko. There've been plenty of movies showing war realistically; Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down come to mind. But I don't think Stone is interested in realism and the military knows it.

Sinner 29-11-05 03:10 PM

We Were Soldiers is my favorite.....War movie, followed by Full Metal Jacket....close second.....

Ramona_A_Stone 29-11-05 05:29 PM

Of course, albed, you would choose to feel that the 'realistic' war films are the ones displaying against-the-odds heroism against faceless enemies and fraternal bonding with happy endings and the national anthem playing with saccharin strings as the credits roll. We already know this about you because you get your ideas about war selectively from Hollywood just like everyone else who's never been in combat, and it's quite obvious from your gung-ho-istic stance that you prefer to think of war in general as a righteous act of altruistic and ethical men out to save the world, not only from terrorists, extremists and evil warlords, but probably from dirty hippies, liberals and gays and anything else currently on your agenda for cleansing.

Stone enlisted in the Army during the peak of the Vietnam war specifically requesting combat duty, and got a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart--while Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks & Ridley Scott were, I suppose, probably busily making the world a better place by getting painful collagen treatments for their adolescent acne scars.

But of course you'll choose their second-hand glossy depictions of the glory of war over the filth, corruption, despair and nauseating futility of the reality and humanity Stone wrestles with in his films any day. Big surprise.

Quote:

"A civil society that celebrates military veterans of the Second World War by major motion picture depictions of them abusing and murdering prisoners of war, as was the case in Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, should not be shocked when such behavior is to some degree emulated by young inexperienced members of the National Guard."
--Lawrence Rockwood from the California State University at San Marcos, addressing Dr. Albert C. Pierce of the Center for the Study of Professional Military Ethics.
Nor I suppose should we be shocked that thousands are willing to march into battle to further the business agendas of a handful of already filthy rich scum thinking they're fighting for justice and the preservation of the American way of life.

You mock Hollywood while simultaneously buying into its worst propaganda. You're constantly decrying all forms of lies but can't even hear the few voices that have to fight to tell the truth in a medium controlled by the same interests which drive us to these pointless sham crusades. How excruciatingly characteristic.

albed 29-11-05 05:58 PM

So I take it you want to blow Oliver Stone.

Albed's notes:

Observed Ramona babbling nonsense like a love-struck teenage girl and concluded there was a strong psycho-sexual obsession with a famous film maker.

Predict a feigned indifference that will reinforce the conclusion.

Ramona_A_Stone 29-11-05 07:29 PM

Any indifference regarding you is, I can assure you utterly, not feigned.

True, it can be marginally entertaining using you as an example of the pathological consequences of abject, willful ignorance, and in lieu of this forum having a trained chimp to serve in this illustrative capacity, you'll just have to suffice.

It's just an unfortunate side-effect and one of nature's crueler ironies that you apparently happen to possess the bare minimum of sentience required to believe that my responses are for your benefit.

:MO:

albed 29-11-05 08:37 PM

Well if you didn't use my name and the second person in your responses it might just escape my cognition and then I wouldn't believe that. But your efforts to make it so obvious to even my minimum sentience leads me to believe you truly are feigning indifference. Now it even seems possible that you were actually feigning an obsession with Oliver Stone just to make me jealous.

So blow me.

Ramona_A_Stone 29-11-05 08:59 PM

lol

In your fevered dreams, where, apparently, you aren't a dickless twit.

lmao

By the way, if you'd go ahead and break down and submit to your rampant queer fantasies maybe you'd stop obsessing over it in public--that is, if you could find some guy with a low enough opinion of himself to couple with a rodent.
