Please!!!!: Suggestions To Catalog Files Needed
Between multiple cdr backups and work-in-progress cdr-ws I've amassed 600+ cds just between music, some avis and setup programs.
I'm at a point where I have no idea where is what, and I have to resort to printed lists which is a throwback computerwise. I've tried several programs, but I seem to be unable to choose (or find) the right one. I need suggestions about a program able to catalog different types of files, able to search, and that let me at least select the type of unit (Kb, Mb). Thanks in advance. :S: |
I've just been browsing Download.com - they have a new prog posted entitled 'Music Label 2003', and there's a free 30 day trial available. Might be worth a look?;)

i catalog my cds using filemaker pro; which is basic database software. i've clearly labelled each cd starting at ONE, then input what's on each cd and cd #, and what type it is (application, video, game, music) in filemaker. then i sort one alphabetically and one by file type and output to html so i can easily reference it and/or easily link it to friends who might want to borrow something. it also has a search feature.
only problem with filemaker is that i didn't intuitively pick it up; but that was partly because i was completely new to database software so i wasn't familiar with how to think like it. now it's very comfortable for me and feels quite easy but there was a learning curve where i simply had to understand how it worked. |
DiskIndex is worth a try. Works for me. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
