Fresh Meet For WinMx
for those freaked about morph or just curious about serversharing here's the live list for winmx, and maybe one of the last of its' kind. i feel wpnp works well enough anyway and there's no worry about chat room hijackers, an odious new development, but it's always smart to have an alternative or two. remember, treat each one carefully or you're Permanently Banned! (no circling around and getting on twice...). not that i would know the first thing about it - but there may be a couple not returning my calls...
- js. (edit:"chat room hijackers" actually refers to hacks that force you, like it or not into a servers' chat room. it has nothing to do w/terrorists.) |
Thanks Jack! :tu: Let's copy the list of working servers here in case the Zeropaid link goes down soon...
Code:
Name IP Port Users Files Gigabytes Network |
good idea tg.

I have only just started to use winmx again, and I don't have any idea how to use that list. Anybody want to fill this poor clueless vwguy in?:con:

Check the network of the server you want to add. If you already have some servers from that network, take your mouse over that server group (e.g. [NecessaryEvil]) in list of OpenNap Protocol Low Capacity Networks. Choose Add, and an 'Add Server' dialog opens up. Fill in the address (e.g. spectrum1.no-ip.com) and the port number (typically 8888) of the new server, no need to touch other settings. Press OK, done. If you don't yet have any servers from that network, take your mouse over the <OpenNap Protocol Low Capacity Networks> line and choose Add. Give the server address and port number as above but remember also to type in the new network name. Press OK, done. This will add the new network automatically to your network list. - tg ;) |
you can
A: open your winmx nservers.dat file in notepad and CAREFULLY replace the dead links w/live ones (difficult, tedious and not recomemded if your list is really old - will take a while). B: download a fast updated nservers.dat list readymade from trippymx. make absolutely sure you read and follow the installation instructions in the notepad file. (also not recomended as list is now pretty old). C: download a fresh (10/6) third party update zip for trippy. recomended by trippymx author dave - but not tried by me. D: napigator. no clue - never tried it. anyone? - js. edit: just read tanks'. sounds much simpler than A. try that. |
Thanks TG and Jack, Will give it a go.
