What the hell. My Refosearch was out of development and offline.Just say no to Gator,Offer Companion,File Freedom, and Common Name.

Dawn 26-02-02 08:10 PM

But can you actually GET a download. Thats the million dollar question ;)

ssj4_android 26-02-02 08:22 PM

I just tried kazaa, the ads aren't blockable like morpheus's :(. I ran ad-aware, and I had it delete auerate and some other dlls. Of course kazaa won't run without auerate, and it wouldn't even uninstall without the dlls.

I'm certain Kazaa used cydoor's advertising component, not Radiate's (Aureate renamed to Radiate a while back). The Aureate dll must have come from some other program. Kazaa can be run without ads using a dummy dll, but I don't see the point in doing that unless you're determined to bankrupt the company. What so bad about a few ads?

I was still running RefoSearch until yesterdays shutdown & as it is based on Morpheus 1.3.3 It will no longer connect the same as Morpheus.

I had downloaded Grokster 1.5 back when they released it, so maybe now I'll give it a whirl...

phateboard 27-02-02 12:29 AM

i dont see a problem with the cdoor spyware...

Mowzer 27-02-02 01:30 AM

I took the plunge too.

I am now on grokster. :(

It works good. But just doesnt feel the same as morpheus.

Mowzer 27-02-02 01:39 AM

Phateboard,

Heres an article I wrote on spyware awhile back.

http://www.gibboncore.demon.co.uk/ka...pywarehell.htm

I orignally had it on my site p2p tech, then somone embeded it in the kazaa forum, and now many sites around the net have been stealing it.

enjoy!

Smoketoomuch 27-02-02 03:38 AM

Oh, thanks for the link Ethen, there is that list of dll's you can look for, and the first one was a hit here. For me adware/spyware difference is still vague. They say on donkey webpage, that IF someone proves that Cydoor is spy, they'll remove it. (they have two copies now, onw with and on without Cydoor)

napho 27-02-02 04:24 AM

I got rid of something called domlst with adaware. Must be short for domainlist??? I also removed lwa3 from the registry. It's backed up but Grokster still works.

Well I have Grokster up and running, 712067 users but the files figure is over 10,000K less then what I used to see?

fogelbise 27-02-02 11:26 AM

hello,

i was fine with the ads until they added the rapidly flashing one several months back that had a physical affect on me!...haven't had ads since.

can you just install grokster and go, or do you *have* to tweak it with morpheus already onboard?

i am currently on morph: 651,527 users online 465660GB seems to back to normal, shows search results from grokster and kazaa users.

napho 27-02-02 11:55 AM

You can get rid of the ad bar. Just replace the cd_clint.dll file with a dummy. It works for iMesh as well.

Napho, sorry for asking this stupid question, but how exactly does this replacing go? Should I place the .dll file in the kazaa folder?

In XP it's in the System 32 folder. If you have another OS just search for it.

Xman 27-02-02 01:35 PM

Found it.

Would you all be so kind as to do a search for OTRadio files for me, specifically: CBS Radio Mystery Theater, CBSRMT, CBS Radio Mystery Theatre episodes?

Let me know what you come up with........pretty please?

As always,

TIA

:BP:

Edited to add that most of my otr files come from Music City users - no sense jumping the broomstick if there's nothing available :D.

One more favor Napho, this is where it gets tough. Inner Sanctum was a predecessor (forgive the sp), of Radio Mystery Theater. Most people are mislabeling these Inner Sanctum files as CBSRMT but they really aren't.

Look for these titles in the searches - they're pretty popular and easy to find:

The Oblong Box
Them!
The Mask of Tubac Amaru
Die! You're on Magic Camera
The 36th Man
Premature Burial

These are truely CBSRMT shows. If you find some then I'll know for sure it's worth jumping ships ;)

Dawn 27-02-02 06:22 PM

They're there goldie. Time to jump. :tu:

That was AudioGalaxy, not Grokster goldie.

napho 27-02-02 06:30 PM

That's audioGalaxy indeed. Grokster is the same as Morpheus, you've mined the FastTrack network already. Time to move on.

Dawn 27-02-02 06:38 PM

Don't thank me Goldie, thank napho. He's helped me get all those programs up and running too. :tu:

goldie 27-02-02 07:22 PM

My old 606 looks like a 608 - I'm connected - old username works fine LOL

Yea BAAABBBIE!!!

Nuisance ads are next  to git!

:tu: Thanx again!!

goldie 27-02-02 07:27 PM

One more question

Is there a way to get the contents of my D drive listed as well, there's another 250 on there I'd like to add to the pot!

I noticed when it scanned my drive it didn't show the process in action so I'm assuming it only scanned in 1 drive.

Will check out the help files to see if I can do it.

:BP:

Edited to add: GOT IT!!

:J: :J: :J: :J:

theknife 27-02-02 11:46 PM

ok, I'm trying AG out tonight.pretty cool but I've got several minor beefs that maybe Dawn or someone can clarify for me:

- is there some way to initiate more than one d/l at a time? it's really cumbersome to go back and forth between the search page and the d/l page...

- is there some way to get some details (like size) on the file before you start the d/l?

- what is the point of listing songs that aren't available?

ok..so maybe I'm being a little picky.. :LF:

phateboard 28-02-02 12:10 AM

i still dont see why everyones so worried about kazaa and spyware? i guess i just dont care enuf to spend time getting ridd of it.

Mowzer 28-02-02 12:54 AM

Phate board,

Please let me at your computer. I want to store some porn files on it. If you say no, I will just make some kinda tool for you to download, the porn files will be installed aswell with out you knowing. I might also look in on your computer once in awhile to see where you have been surifing etc.

It is not often people are found who dont care about spyware.
You are a real gem indeed, for opening your machine up to the world and allowing others to use it, install stuff on it, while you trun a blind eye.

Back off cydoor! phate boards comp is mine to install shit on.
Thanx in advance phateboard.

Click on the song title to get to choose the size you want.
Use this program instead for more flexibility. It's spyware free.

Here's a similar program for 98.
